Promoters

El Cinquè Lac is a route promoted by a group of small rural accommodation providers who believe in honest work and in the human dimension of tourism. They are committed to receiving visitors who share their values of respect and love for the local territory, nature and heritage.

Associació
Marques de pastor

To manage this route, we created the Associació Marques de Pastor (Shepherd Symbols Association) in collaboration with a local travel agency (Pirineu Emoció), which is responsible for marketing the product.

We call ourselves Marques de Pastor because this symbol – which can be seen on all of the houses – used to be used to mark and differentiate flocks belonging to different owners. Furthermore, it was these flocks that created and which used to maintain the ancient droves which El Cinquè Llac follows.

Objective

Our objective, as an association is, precisely, to promote and recover these routes and also to spread knowledge about all the historical and ethnographic heritage related to the lives of shepherds and livestock herders.

The accommodation

The accommodation centres that form part of the association are:

Who has helped us?

In designing El Cinquè Llac we have enjoyed the support of the local population. The people of the villages (senior citizens, shepherds and livestock herders, hunters…) are its real creators, because they are the ones who have explained, taught and accompanied us and shown us how local people used to communicate in the past. They have also helped us to recover place names, legends and stories that were gradually being lost.

In addition, the route has been given additional content by local writers, historians, biologists, botanists, geographers and veterinarians. Without all their help, El Cinquè Llac would not be what it now is, and indeed, it may never have become a reality.

Local administrations and public institutions have also worked with us from the very beginning. Local and local district councils, IDAPA and ECA Pallars have listened to us, trusted us and fully invested in this project.

Finally, we are grateful for the recognition and promotion that we have received in the form of various national and international awards. These awards have convinced us that our commitment to responsible and regenerative tourism was the right decision.
