Return and gratitude

Regenerative tourism is the type of tourism that the promoters of El Cinquè Llac most identify with.

We have opted for it because:

It makes it possible to discover new places with an awareness of, the presence of, and respect for, the local territory, its people and nature.

It is a good way to get to know about and understand the traditions and cultural heritage of the places that you visit.

It takes into account the needs of both visitors and the local people.

It makes it possible to minimise your environmental impact. What is more, you can turn your trip into a positive impact!

minimum environmental impact

Inspired by this model for tourism, we have designed El Cinquè Llac with the aim of causing the minimum environmental impact possible and of having a positive impact on the social and economic reality of the local territory.

We apply numerous measures to achieve this, but we would particularly like to highlight the following:

  • •We encourage visitors to arrive by public transport, and especially on the magnificent Tren dels Llacs.
  • We prepare packed lunches for you, providing a lunchbox and bindle in order to produce less waste.
  • We promote local companies and producers, from both the agri-food and craft sectors.
  • We disseminate the culture and traditions of the local territory because they are part of our identity, and also in order to help keep them alive.
  • We participate in initiatives to conserve and recover the local natural and cultural heritage. In fact, we allocate 10% of the price of our packages to supporting such projects.

Projecte gratitud

One of the key elements of regenerative tourism – and also of similar models, such as responsible and sustainable tourism – is gratitude: a spontaneous feeling of appreciation and giving thanks for something received. When we travel, one of the best ways to show our gratitude to the territory that has welcomed us is to generate some kind of positive impact or return. It is with this in mind that the promoters of El Cinquè Lac and the Consorci Leader Pirineu Occidental have promoted the Gratitud Pallars project.

The Gratitud Pallars project aims to help give back to nature, the landscape and the local territory all the happiness that they bring us. It seeks to strengthen links between people – both locals and visitors – and the values of the local territory through proposals for the protection of nature and the recovery of heritage.

The Gratitud project offers various ways for visitors who have done El Cinquè Llac to return something to the territory, and make a positive impact.

Improving the biodiversity of a micro-reserve

A micro-reserve is a small natural space that has a project to conserve biodiversity and/or heritage. On the Gratitud website, you will see all the micro-reserves that we have (and the entities that work with them) and you can make a voluntary financial contribution to help improve their fauna, flora and habitats through various different actions.

Helping to restore a path or a dry-stone wall

Every year, we propose a different path that can be sponsored: which visitors can make a financial contribution to help recover. We also encourage you to volunteer and participate in the action that we organise every year to restore the walls and cobblestones of a path along which El Cinquè Llac passes.

Calculating and offsetting your carbon footprint

We offer you a simple tool to calculate the CO2 emissions that you have generated during your stay (mobility, water and energy consumption, etc.), so that you know their equivalent economic cost and can compensate them with a project involving the micro-reserves. This video clearly explains how to do this.
